Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Essential New Features It Needs

9. Fun Minigames

And speaking of minigames, these are one aspect of the game that could really use some improvement. Most of the games in the Gold Saucer's Wonder Square are pretty pathetic, as are the missions that initially used many of them. The submarine and motorcycle games weren't a whole lot of fun when forced to play them in missions and there's little desire to revisit them. Mog House is pointless and long and that pretty much only leaves the battler game (a glorified rock-paper-scissors) and snowboarding.

These could all do with more development to make them actually fun. Take a cue from many other games that have come out in the past few years that have a lot of great minigames, like the Grand Theft Auto series. And as stated before, this is a great way to introduce multiplayer into the game.

The Battle Arena would be one area where truly new and different minigames could be played out. Instead of only having the option of playing as your own characters, what if you could also play as other characters in the game? Play as the great Sephiroth or one of the Turks. Or maybe even as some of the monsters or the WEAPONs.

That would make the Battle Arena a lot more interesting than in its current state, where it's almost indistinguishable from the random battles on the map.
