Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Essential New Features It Needs

8. Expand The World

Replaying FF7 and wandering the world map makes you realize something really quick; this is a sparsely-populated planet. There are only a handful of towns in this world and most of them are very small locations. So why not give us a little bit more?

Give players the chance to explore more of Midgar than just the slums and Shinra HQ. It's supposed to be this massive city but you certainly don't get a sense of that in the game.

Maybe throw in some extra towns so it doesn't feel like each town is its own planet? And how about getting to learn a little bit more about the world itself? We get some hints of the deeper history, but there are those of us who want to know more.

How did Shinra get to the point where they're basically a world power? What happened in the war with Wutai? Was it against Shinra or Midgar? Why was the decision made to turn Corel into a prison? What happened to Cloud when he first arrived in Midgar to join SOLDIER?

Or how about the history of AVALANCHE? We get a brief history lesson from Barret on the initial visit to Cosmo Canyon, but there's probably more to the story that we can learn about.
