Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Essential New Features It Needs

5. Improve The Chocobo System

Chocobo breeding and racing is one of the more unique aspects of FF7. Instead of just being a mode of transportation, those giant birds in the Final Fantasy games provide not only fun distractions in FF7 but also provide players with unique opportunities to gain special weapons and magic.

There is a bit of tedium to the process of breeding the ultimate chocobo, though. You have to catch the right kind of chocobo through random battles, feed them the right kind of food to max out their stats, and then race them to improve their class.

And then once you get those chocobos powerful enough to breed unique offspring, you have to then undergo the feeding and racing again to power up the next generation to breed even more powerful versions.

The racing in particular has some tedium to it. As mentioned before, the chocobo racing is a perfect chance to introduce multiplayer aspects to the game. Do more than just the one track. Have multiple tracks that can be selected, or even other locations in the world.

A chocobo race through the highways of Midgar and avoiding the speeding cars or through the treacherous trails of Mt. Nibel or even across the oceans with the right kind of chocobo.

Just introducing a little bit of variety into the racing can make the process a lot more fun.
