Final Fantasy VII Remake: 10 Things Everybody Missed In The New Trailer
3. You'll Be Equipping Entirely Different Arms For Barrett
Although it was always a far cry away from the likes of Diablo or Baldur's Gate when it came to showing what your character had equipped, FF VII did change the visual look of your weapons when you swapped them out. Future Final Fantasies mostly kept this ethos - save for the costume-swapping madness of FF XIII: Lightning Returns - and although I'd hazard a guess Square aren't going to be modelling all sorts of fancy clothing options on top of FF VII's gargantuan world, Barrett's arm says the weapon-switching remains. Why? Because his character model essentially cuts off at the top of his bicep, leaving the rest open to customisation in a way that doesn't give the visual designers a headache. This is another carry-over from the Advent Children redesign, and one that - in that movie - saw him attach everything from basic bionic fists, to a whopping great laser-cannon.
