12. Final Fantasy: Dissidia 012 - Duodecim
'What, the fighting game?' I hear you say. Yes, even the FF fighting game is in this list. Let's face it, we've had a TPS, a couple of MMORPGs and a semi-RTS. So it's only fitting we include FF: Dissidia 012 Duodecim (Duodecim for short) into the list, especially since the story actually seems CANON! That's right, many of you might not know having not played the game, but Square Enix actually tried to make the story in Duodecim tie into other games in the series. Whether this works or not is up for debate, but essentially the world of Duodecim is tied to that of Final Fantasy I, whilst all the other characters who make an appearance do so having been pulled from their own series. Something like that at least. Of note, the original Dissidia is not in this list given that Duodecim actually features the original Dissidia in its storyline. So we can just package it together as one. The storyline itself is weak, but it is nice to see all the different heroes and villains converse with one another. Some of it is good, some of it is bad. The fighting itself is decent enough. It's an action 3D fighter where you control a character and run around stages attacking the opponent. You could even fight other people if you were connected to them. It takes a bit of getting used to, and at higher levels, fights can be very brief. Outside of battles there is even an overworld map to travel across, with numerous items to collect too. Duodecim was a game for the fans. Whilst it seems a tad silly trying to tie the game's story into that of the other FF titles, it's still a nice little game to play with.
