Final Fantasy XV: 10 Essential Tips & Tricks You Need To Know

8. Customise Your Entourage

Final Fantasy XV
Square Enix

Noctis, Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto all begin the game with alternative outfits, which serve attribute purposes as well as aesthetic ones... although more amusing is leaving Prompto with his jacket on as you run around the scorching desert and listen to him whine.

The choice is limited, but still gives you a chance to instantly connect with your characters by making them your own. Plus, for those of us that are used to having a larger entourage of characters like in previous entries in the series, being able to change the look will help things from going stale.

More importantly than clothes is AP, or Ability Points. Noctis earns AP from completing a variety of actions in the world, from fulfilling the team's hobbies (fishing, surviving in the wild, cooking and photography) to completing side quests. The player can then spend AP in the Ascension Tree to unlock new abilities for them all. It's similar to the Sphere Grid of FFX, only it is broken into several smaller trees rather than one large grid, and many abilities are locked to specific party members.

Finally, you car, the Regalia, is also available to customise from the very beginning, though I would advise restraint for the time being. Decals aren't cheap, and your money is better spent on potions, weapons and classic Final Fantasy music for your road trips.
