For those who have been following the project since it was first announced way back in 2006, you'll know that its original name was Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It was only in an announcement last year that it was revealed to have been transformed into the next full-blown entry in the main Final Fantasy series Originally, Final Fantasy Versus XIII was to be released exclusively on the PlayStation 3. As the years went by, the project was suspected of being vaporware - until the big announcement in 2013. It's now been revealed that Final Fantasy XV will be released on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Interestingly, rumours are also circulating that it will see a PC release at some stage. While this will likely not be upon release, Square Enix have been steadily porting their console 'exclusives' from the series to PC, while gaining further experience with the platform through their MMO releases.
