Football Manager 2014: 5 Super Amazing Ways SI Could Make It Great

3. Limit Amazing Regens & Stop Silly Transfers

Screen Shot 2013-05-29 at 18.01.01 Today, in the real World there are perhaps 2-3 'five star players': Messi, Ronaldo and perhaps Neymar, Bale or Falcao. This is the same story on FM, all the greats are there, doing the same stuff they do week in week out in the real world. But, and it's a big BUT, what happens in about 3-4 seasons? Absolutely amazing regens start to appear everywhere, Messi-esque players are popping up all over the world available at dirt cheap prices if you get there soon enough. Before you know it you have a team of 19-21 year old regens (My 17-18 Arsenal team above) who you have never heard of before but you simply have to play them because they are epic, guess what? Your game is now ruined and you will start a fresh game shortly. Though finding 'gems' on the game is great fun and one of the best parts of the game itself, after a few seasons it becomes boring, monotonous and easy to do. I want to see my stars of today as legends of the game in 10 seasons time, not the likes of Wilshere, Walcott and Chamberlain having to sit on my bench going grey at 28 because Juan Ronaldo El Pelle has '20's' all over the place. For me this is an easy fix and one that frustrates FM players across the globe, do you really enjoy playing with a team you can't relate to the rela world? I know I can't, its the reason why I end up stopping most of my games and starting a fresh with the intention of only signing British youngsters so that it never happens again. Problem is you can't resist it. My current game is with Arsenal (as normal) and my intentions from the off were to only sign young English/British talent, why is it that whenever I do something like this a player who I have never signed before because of the ridiculous asking price is transfer listed? Yep, you guessed it, 3rd season and I have Luis Suarez up front, I could not resist £26m for him, I just couldn't. Though I have convinced myself that I will sell him shortly and that he is merely a stop-gap until I find a good young English striker (there isn't any in the real world) i'm sure he will still be with me for a few seasons. It makes me feel dirty though, I really don't want to be playing Suarez, why did I even buy him? This leads me nicely on to my next point.
