Half-baked genericism.

Those words perfectly sum up how stadiums appear in FM's 3D match engine. There's no Old Trafford, Anfield or Stamford Bridge to speak of. Instead, they're replaced by cookie-cutter stands and camera angles that try to hide the fact you're not looking at your team's ground.

Is this avoidable in a game that would find it difficult to outmuscle EA's licensing monopoly? Yes, yes it is. SI just need to give players a bit more freedom.

Perhaps it's a bit far-fetched to expect a full-blown stadium creation suite in a game clearly more concerned with the everyday running of a football team on the pitch, and yet giving users the chance to edit some aspects of their home ground would be a nice touch in 2019.

Having the power to decide how stadiums look, rather than settling for generic stands, could help bring the (otherwise solid, if undeniably still basic) 3D mode to life. When the system is as limited as this, little flashes of customisation would go a long way.
