This feature wouldn't be one to everyone's tastes, although it would further a long-running play style favourite in football management sims.

Taking provincial clubs from League Two anonymity to the vast millions of the Premier League is something gamers have been doing in FM, Champ Man, LMA Manager and elsewhere since the 80s. As fun as that is, it's not true-to-life that a manager would be appointed Spurs boss just because he/she took Luton to the League Two title within two seasons.

More of a realistic career progression is needed in FM 2019, and there's an interesting way to go about realising it. After guiding smaller sides to success, it'd make sense if bigger teams or high-profile managers started considering your gaffer for a number two position, or even as the ideal person to manage their youth squad.

From there, an alternate route to top jobs would open up. Shine at youth level and the club's hierarchy may consider you for an interim run as manager when the top man moves on. This would give the main game mode more of a journey feel.
