1. It Doesn't Really Innovate The Franchise

This might sound like an unfair criticism to some, but coming away from a few days dug into Forza Horizon 4, there is a distinct feeling of ordinariness, that as brilliant as it so often is, it just doesn't really do enough to innovate.

This is a sublime racer, no question, but if you were hoping that Horizon 4 would build substantially on the well-regimented formula, it's more a steady refinement that plays things relatively safe.

Some will argue that this is not only fine but even preferable, though honestly, it would've been nice to see Playground push the boat out with some bolder design decisions. Instead, this mostly feels like a slicker, glossier version of the previous game with a different setting, though there are certainly worse things to be called out for.

So, these criticisms accepted, there is a ton of fun to have with this game, and if you own an Xbox One or gaming PC, you absolutely owe it to yourself to play it. Here's what Forza Horizon 4 gets right...
