Forza Horizon 4 Review: 6 Ups & 3 Downs

5. The Eye-Wateringly Beautiful Graphics

Playground Games

It scarcely needs to be said to anyone with a functioning pair of eyeballs, but yes, Forza Horizon 4 is one of the best looking games ever made, racer or otherwise. Even when played in mere, lowly 1080p, this thing is an absolute technical masterclass, with uncannily photo-realistic vehicular textures and lighting effects.

Sure, it's not an entirely consistent visual showcase - the aforementioned human character models are horrible and the underside of most vehicles are a single flat texture - but where it really counts, the game is an absolute aesthetic belter.

Especially stunning is the Edinburgh-set portion of the game, and if you've ever visited the Scottish city, it's hard not to be left agape at how lovingly it's been recreated here.

Though the U.K. isn't the first setting that comes to mind for a racing game, Playground has done a wonderfully job exploiting its natural beauty for every drop it's worth.
