Ghost Of Tsushima: 10 Reasons Why It's A Game Of The Year Contender
4. Incredible Combat System
The combat system of Ghost of Tsushima does take some time to get used to, but it will not be long before you are confident enough to take on a whole horde of enemies at once. There are four fighting stances in the game and each of them helps you take on different enemy types.
The Stone, Water, Wind and Moon stances help you fight sword, shield, spear and brute enemies. Learning and upgrading these stances can help you take on multiple enemy types at once as well as increase the damage you deal to them. You can also unlock abilities that help you parry some enemies more powerful attacks and leave them vulnerable to lethal counters.
But if you ever feel like you are being overwhelmed, you can always turn to your trusty Ghost abilities. Smoke bombs will stun enemies, while Kunai blades and Black Powder Bombs will damage multiple foes at once. You can also acquire a blowgun that can fire deadly poisonous darts or hallucinogens that cause enemies to attack their allies.
Whether you decide to fight as a Samurai or sneak like the Ghost, you will find both play styles to be equally satisfying.
