Ghost Of Tsushima: 10 Things We NEED To See
8. Reputation System
One stand out thing about Japanese culture is the idea of honour and reputation. The Samurai themselves were regarded as a higher class and lived by a strict code of honour named The Bushido Code.
Samurai face their opponents in fair combat and honour them once defeated. These guys cared so much about their honour that they would rather disembowel themselves in a ritualistic suicide called Seppuku than be caught.
This is already an excellent setup for a reputation system. Ghost of Tsushima already has an element of that in the game it seems, where you can choose to fight as honourable Samurai Jin, facing your opponents head-on in brutal standoffs, or as the dishonourable Ghost, slicing and dicing your way through the darkness.
We see many possibilities with this kind of honour system. Perhaps Jin's allies begin to fear him as he gets further from the Samurai he was and closer to the Ghost he is becoming. As you gain more respect as a Samurai, it could provide benefits like lower prices for goods, or unlock companions that compliment Jin's current path. We just hope that Sucker Punch plays into the theme of honour and dishonour.
