Ghost Recon: Wildlands - 6 Reasons The Story Completely Fails

4. "Toughness" & No Remorse

El Emisario's death provides the creators with a chance to say something against the toughness and masculinity of Wildlands' characters. He is barely an adult, in awe of his grandfather, who even though they were involved in drug trade, is a very respectful and reasonable human being. El Emisario was a good boy who just had bad role models.

The sensitive boy kills himself in consequence of the Ghosts' actions, and only one of them considers it: "I feel like we drove him to it."

His comment is quickly dismissed by another member of the group, who declares: "C'mon, man. Stop it with that sh*t. He made a choice." That's the end of the exchange between the two men, and the end of the topic altogether.

This exchange has the potential to present Ghosts as human beings, with second thoughts and regrets. It doesn't. They just go on, and so does the game.
