God Of War: 10 Worst Things Kratos Has Ever Done

9. Destroying Rhodes For Fun

After vanquising God of War Ares at the end of the first game, God of War II opens with Kratos, now himself the God of War, running riot through Rhodes alongside his Spartan army.

Despite being warned against a violent crusade by Athena, he and his army dismantle any Rhodes soldiers who dare get in their way.

This culminates in the epic - and, uh, epically destructive - boss fight against the Colossus of Rhodes, whereby Kratos ends up drained of all his godly powers and killed by Zeus, along with his entire army.

Needless to say, had Kratos been not quite so industrious with his pillaging, perhaps Zeus wouldn't have felt compelled to intervene. And above all else, this was a perfect example of a protagonist who became the very thing they defeated prior.

War is war, but all of those soldiers in Rhodes had families, and it's not like Kratos had a particularly compelling or vengeful motivation for annihilating the city beyond conquering Greece because...that's what the God of War does, right?
