Grand Theft Auto 6 - 10 Things We Must See
5. The Emphasis Shouldn't Be On Online Play
It takes a long time to get through a Grand Theft Auto game, but once you're done, there's only a certain amount of replayability (especially when the storyline is often quite linear). With that in mind, it's easy to see why Rockstar has really capitalised on online play in recent years, hence why both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 still have an audience.
However, as good as it will be to see more of that component with GTA VI, it absolutely should not be Rockstar's biggest priority. The focus needs to remain on a lengthy, compelling single-player campaign, with an online mode added further down the line.
If the game launches with an emphasis on online play (which would be understandable given what a moneymaker it is for the developer), then it could be a disaster. Fallout 76 proved how rocky a game based in that online world can be, and using that same format for this franchise could end up killing it (especially as that online mod is already heavily flawed).
