Ready for a bit of a bummer?
Take-Two's own 10-K SEC filing (which outlines financial plans for the coming five year period) was published last year. In it, their accounts allowed for a huge $89m spike in marketing expenditure for the period between March 2023-March 2024.
That could be for GTA 6.
$89 million is a lot, obviously, so that kind of budget wouldn't be for some run-of-the-mill game. It sounds big time, and GTA 6 is big time for the publishing house's accounts. The downside is that this could also mean that 6 won't be in your disc trays or download tabs until 2023 at the earliest.
This kinda' makes sense if Rockstar plan to launch an updated GTA 5 later in 2021. They'll want to maximise that game's chances of raking in the cash before squashing it with the new entry. So, in other words, everyone will have to wait a while longer.
