GTA 6: 10 Gameplay Rumours We Hope Are True
8. Set In The 1970s

While the prospect of GTA 6 being set in the 1970s doesn't seem all that interesting on paper, there is something slightly exciting about it. The rumour from the aforementioned GamesRadar article suggests that the game won't shy away from the global issues faced at the time.
Thus, the AIDS epidemic would serve as a key story, as would the immigration crisis that saw a mass of Cubans fleeing the reign of tyranny by Fidel Castro.
It goes without saying that the GTA series has never backed away from putting controversial topics at the forefront of their video games. In fact, they've built a franchise out of it. Stories surrounding these topics wouldn't look out of place in a GTA game whatsoever.
What matters most about this, however, is how delicately Rockstar handles it. If handled terribly, the reputation built up by Rockstar Games will have been hampered severely. Sure, it likely wouldn't be a company-destroying occurrence, but people would be less likely to put their hard-earned cash in the team's pockets, particularly those who have suffered directly.
The overall point here is that the inclusion of these key 1970s stories would make for some great gameplay, and some even greater storyline progression. They don't necessarily have to be the focus story of the game, but their inclusion would be nice nonetheless.
