GTA 6: 10 Things From GTA 5 That Must Stay
4. The Wacky Sense Of Humour
Hopefully, Rockstar learned a lesson or two from GTA 4. Don't get us wrong, there were parts of Niko Bellic's tale to cherish, and revisiting the game after playing 5 has helped us appreciate GTA's attempt to get all serious. However, some parts of 4 just felt a little too sober.
Grand Theft Auto is at its best when mixing moments of brutal, extreme violence with a playful, almost sardonic level of charm. Being wacky at inappropriate times is what GTA does better than perhaps any other gaming franchise around. Maybe Rockstar had to try something different and test their storytelling chops in 4, but the entire idea of a (largely) no-nonsense story was never going to be anything more than a one-off experiment.
5 did have serious moments, and yet it shone because the developers were unafraid to throw realism out the nearest window and have players giggling along. Making sure players are in on GTA's jokes is a winning formula, and it's important that Rockstar don't forget that in time for 6's release.
