1. Combat
A hot point of complaint about GTA IV was its cover and shooting mechanics: the aiming, even on the high setting, was slow and didn't give us fast enough response time and cover selection was often random and had us rolling halfway across Libery City when we just wanted to duck behind a car. Another gripe came with the hand-to-hand combat, but this has been discussed extensively already. The lock-on system often tried to target people behind us when an enemy directly in front of Niko was clearly shooting him. Not exactly very helpful.
How to fix it? Try having more precision and control. More sensitivity settings, more precise cover actions and having the player move between cover points more. As for the hand-to-hand, I have no real solution other make the player move faster and don't make it suck, basically. The issue where you put your phone away when getting shot was frustrating as well, and a few stealth options wouldn't hurt. Give us more lock on options, like soft and hard lock, or just free aim, from Max Payne 3. And finally, make the characters move faster in combat, that awkward jog when leaving cover left us exposed for way too long. So there's just a few things GTA V might get wrong based on past and recurring issues. None of these would break the game fatally, but if they were dodged it would certainly help the overall quality and reception of the class. Either way, I'm frothing at the mouth for what Rockstar has in store for us in the coming months, and have faith in their abilities to craft a fantastic game. Let us know what you think. Should annoying friend activities be on the list?
