GTA V Remastered: 10 Reasons To Revisit San Andreas
6. Friend Request
Grand Theft Auto isn't all about guns and violence; some of the series' most memorable moments are found in its parodies of real-life events and companies. The lives of the people of San Andreas have been invaded by a new social network by the name of Lifeinvader; how unrealistic. Seemingly everybody in the game has a profile and looking at the site though the in-game internet can lead to some funny references to past events in the game. Lifeinvader plays a key role in the mission Friend Request; Michael has to infiltrate the company's offices and plant an explosive device in a prototype new phone. He buys some 'youthful' (garish) clothing and poses as an employee, leading to him being mistaken for a tech support guy. This leads to a pretty funny mini-game where you have to click through a series of pop-ups on a computer to run anti-virus software on the employee's work station; the raunchy nature of the pop-ups leave us with no questions about the sort of sites this guy was visiting. This is the sort of stuff that showcases GTA's humour perfectly - it's a simple comedy mission which sticks in the mind while being pretty inoffensive. Well, until you dial the prototype phone whilst it's being showcased at a press conference by Lifeinvader's founder, blowing his head off and allowing your friend Lester to generate a huge amount of profit on the stock market. Come on, it's Grand Theft Auto, you didn't think it was going to stay inoffensive for long, did you?
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
