Right from the off in GTA: San Andreas, Carl 'C.J' Johnson is extremely easy to identify with. Even though he's not against murder and obviously will do anything to become wealthy, he's also at times a reflective and family-driven man who wants to live a simple life. His desire to succeed is born from a tough childhood, growing up in a harsh environment. By the time players finish San Andreas, they feel vindicated that they have helped C.J defeat his mortal enemy. By killing Officer Frank Tenpenny, Johnson is free to live his life as he pleases, without the threat of crooked cops to muddy the waters. Perhaps the best aspect of Johnson's character is that he's almost a voice of reason in an otherwise bizarre world. Carl Johnson has been mentioned a few times since San Andreas, but never really appeared properly. That needs to be put right in GTA VI. It's unclear exactly what role he could play in the game, but people would get a kick out of seeing C.J once again. He remains one of the best-liked protagonists in series history.
