GTA VI Predictions: 10 Things We Expect To See
9. Destructible Environments
Anyone who plays GTA wants to cause virtual carnage. Gamers after a violence-free experience should look elsewhere. But while rampages are satisfying and the game allows players to shed as much blood as they like, the game environment remains largely indestructible. No matter how many rockets are fired at skyscrapers or grenades thrown at houses buildings remain in perfect condition.
This is where GTA VI could break the mold. The next generation consoles have the processing power to support these changes. The thought of blowing up houses, driving a bulldozer through a police station, burning down a store or sinking a ship is positively tantalising, as is the thought of watching the authorities respond to the carnage. The ability to destroy buildings would take GTA VI to the next level in terms of capacity for destruction, while adding a new dimension to story mode.
There's clearly a desire to see this implemented. Just look at the amount of time spent on trying to derail the train in GTA V! The chance to demolish a city would have hardcore players drooling.
