Halo 4: Where it Will Succeed and Where It Will Fail

...and Where It Will Fail.

1. New Soundtrack

I haven't listened to any of the new tracks, but I don't think I need to. While I don't think that 343i would hire a bad composer, they didn't hire Marty O'Donnell. And that's worrying. That musical genius' tracks have been the sound of Halo for over a decade, and without him the soundscape just won't be the same. Think of all the classics! The Halo Theme, the drum beat from Reach. The score of each game is iconic and sets the tone for the rather depressing events nicely. I get that the tone for Halo 4 is different now, but Reach and 3 were different, and the music was different despite being from the same composer. It's a shame that Marty O'Donnell is a Bungie employee, because his work on the series' past entries is nothing short of astounding. It will really be a shame to see him go, and while I have no doubt that the new composer will craft a great soundtrack, it just won't be a Halo soundtrack.

I live in Australia, love to write and play games. So what better than writing about games? I love all things action and fantasy, as well as my occasional shooter. I literally cannot wait for GTAV!
