Hands-On With Every Major Upcoming Video Game - Ranked
5. The Division 2
Of all the games to surprise me, I did not expect to leave a playable demo for The Division 2 with anything positive to say. Thankfully, Ubisoft have taken the time in between releases to create a third-person shooter that prioritises gameplay over loot-grinds, emerging with something altogether more playable.
Where the original game quickly devolved into dumping clips into bullet-sponge enemies, grinding similar missions to get one new piece of loot, The Division 2 immediately has a better sense of enemy variety, and a more vibrant colour palette. For the former it means you're pinning down certain larger foes and routing them to the spot, allowing for a teammate to deliver the killing blow.
Team tactics and flanking manoeuvres are essential, as is managing your array of gadgets to keep enemies running and team members boosted.
All in all, this is doing everything we thought the original would. Ever since Assassin's Creed II proved Ubi can nail things second time round, this could be another example of just that.
