The second Sharp Objects cast member on this list, Lillis is perhaps best known for her standout role as Beverly Marsh in the 2017 remake of IT, a role she would reprise in the film's 2019 sequel, IT Chapter Two.
Her turn as the sole female member of the Losers Club was widely lauded by critics and audiences alike. It was called "star-making" and "heartbreaking", and critics noted that her "spunky charisma brings to mind Scarlett Johansson and Emma Stone."

The Last of Us is, in a way, a horror story. Granted, not in the same way IT was, but it's still the tale of people trying to survive in a hellish, nightmarish situation, surrounded by a world that's falling apart and inhabited by relentless monsters (both human and otherwise).
And like IT, the real appeal in The Last of Us is not in the horror, but the human element at its core. Lillis has shown that she is capable of bringing tenderness, vulnerability, and strength to a dark, violent, depraved world where it seems that all hope is lost.
That's exactly what we need for Ellie.
