Hitman 6: 10 Essential Things It Must Fix From Absolution

9. Drop Instinct Mode

A new addition to Absolution was the inclusion of "instinct" mode, which allowed players to mark and kill enemies, à la Splinter Cell, as well as track targets and objectives through a sort of 'detective mode'. Problem was, it ultimately discouraged exploration and highlighted the singular nature of the game; routes were often lit up, leaving players with little reason to revisit levels. It's all very counterproductive to the do-as-you-please style of gameplay that the series had previously prided itself on. Instinct mode harmed other aspects of the gameplay as well; with the effectiveness of disguises directly tied to your usage of the ability you'd quickly find yourself faced with an empty meter that had to constantly be refilled. It was no longer about hiding in plain sight so much as simply hunkering down behind a wall and wondering if you had enough left in the tank to cross the room without attracting a hail of gunfire. Hopefully IO Interactive does away with the whole thing and allows a bit more breathing space.
