Hitman: Ranking EVERY Game From Worst To Best
5. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
For a vast majority, this is where Hitman started, as Silent Assassin was the first entry to grace the consoles of the time. With that comes levels that are less bloated and whilst retaining an impressive scale feel more alive. These were actually worth exploring.
Everything here was greatly improved on from Codename 47, from gunplay and enemy AI to quality of life aspects, as now it was possible to save during a mission. Yes this might be save scumming, but it allowed players to experiment with what was possible.
That being said most missions can be resolved by rushing the target with silenced ballers - Ballers that are so overpowered they send waves of enemies flying.
There is a promise of a story early on, as 47 has retired from a life of contract killing to a Sicilian Church, but once Emillio Vittorio is kidnapped, 47 is forced back into the game.
This is only light window dressing however, as for most of the game players will only be updated with a few lines of dialogue from 47 at the start of each mission.
