Hitman: Ranking EVERY Game From Worst To Best
4. Hitman: Blood Money
Where to start with Bloody Money?
This for the longest time was the definitive game in the series, and became a cult classic amongst fans. It had taken everything learned from all previous games and improved on it. The tone had also been shifted to something that felt more lighthearted.
47 was now dressing as a flamingo, navigating through an impressive number of NPCs on the screen to get the job done, or in Curtains Down he added some real drama to those rehearsals. No longer was 47 dredging through the snow in Russia either, as huge flamboyant parties were the setting with heaven and hell as the backdrop.
That said, it was A New Life that shined through as the quintessential Hitman level. It seems small now, but at the time was a lot to explore - with multiple approaches to taking out the target and fun little tricks off to the side. For example, do yourself a favour and check out the field agent who is being too nosy in Vinnie's teenage daughter's room.
Levels like A New Life would go onto ultimately define the series, even getting a spiritual successor in Hitman 3.
As what seemed like a bonus, there is actually a fairly cohesive narrative here 47 and Diana are fleshed out more than ever, and the final level Requiem might have one of the best secret endings in video games, period.
