Hitman: Ranking EVERY Game From Worst To Best
3. Hitman
There was a time when many had thought that the Hitman series had peaked with Blood Money at the turn of the 6th Console Generation, but after the main franchise had remained dormant for almost five years something magic happened.
Gone were linear levels of Absolution and now a World of Assassination was presented for a new era of players and as the game is also only a soft reboot it retained enough for the die-hard fans to unanimously rejoice. Hitman was back and Agent 47 wasn't going to miss a step this time.
Getting there wasn't easy and the game suffered more than its fair share of challenges through the development - even to the point where pre-orders for the game were cancelled by Square Enix as IO Interactive shifted to an episodic model. This is where Hitman excelled as releasing maps every few months meant that players were encouraged to go back and explore every aspect of each location.
What is the most important factor in Hitman's success is that it is incredibly fun to play from either a casual goofy perspective or for those hardcore Silent Assassin Suit only completionists.
On top of that new modes, like Elusive Target were added that again brought people back and would add a fresh perspective to locations players had already spent hours of play time in. This is one of the rare cases in gaming in where there is something for everyone here and the content isn't stretched too thin.
