Hitman: Ranking EVERY Game From Worst To Best
2. Hitman 2
Rarely does a game sequel improve upon the existing formula in almost every way refining it beyond expectations. Again this time around IO Interactive faced bumps along the road as they split from Square Enix - which for them was probably for the best and most importantly they got the Hitman licence in this corporate divorce of theirs. (Square kept The Quiet Man so we all know who won here).
With that brought delays and what was originally intended to be Hitman Season, 2 became a fully-fledged box product known as Hitman 2. Which means everything can be tackled from the get go - along with the added bonus that Hitman 2016 owners get all that original content for free in this new package.
Simple things like presentation are vastly improved making the hitting of man experience a far smoother one. It is now fully explained why some NPCs can always see through 47's disguises and trespassing is telegraphed for more players to notice. The only knock being that on rare occasions the sense of diminishing returns can be felt - especially if one were to only play through a location once.
The writing is where Hitman 2 stands tall above the rest with the narrative taking somewhat of an interesting turn for Agent 47 and adding charm to what could be mundane sections of locations. Most NPCs will have a story which will give you something to chuckle about and make exploring that corner of the map worthwhile.
Oh, and Sean Bean was the first Elusive Target which not only was very self-aware by naming him the undying and was rather cheeky about it in the mission too. If you missed this go and catch this on youtube.
