1. Age-Old A.I. And Animation Issues Are Still Present
"Hitman presents itself as a stealth game that can be as hardcore as you want it to be, but its AI fails to connect all the dots on a semi-regular basis. Should I be able to exit a mission after gunning down people in a packed party? You wouldn't think so, but somehow the guards manning the exit don't always get the memo when there's a madman on the loose." - Gamespot This has been the case in every Hitman since day one, as IO Interactive are rather like Bethesda in their pursuit of large, sprawling experiences that truly stretch the capabilities of any given piece of hardware. Whilst this means you get an experience like no other, the consequence is a game engine that is - shall we say - 'not always the smoothest'. In years gone by we let these things slip, mostly down to the sheer amazement of seeing such a world and game design come together at all, but as was the case with many of Fallout 4's detractors, there's possibly only so much 'video game jank' you can take, before it truly gets in the way. To that end, animations tend to clip through one another, you can bypass physical space by interacting with contextual prompts in the world around you, various groups of NPCs don't always react in the most natural way to what's going on around them - it's Hitman the way you remember it, for better or worse, Are you excited for Hitman?
