7. 'Opportunities' And 'Elusive Targets' Give Dynamic Ways To Play
Hitman purists may not apply for the former, as those who played the beta will already be aware of the 'opportunities' system, one that will show you a step-by-step process of how to complete an assassination, should you so wish. Naturally there'll be scores of fans screaming that's 'not how Hitman should be played', and thankfully these onscreen prompts - "Listen in on the conversation, grab the poison" etc. - can be turned off.
Videogamer's Steven Burns recommend doing the latter;
"When set to full, it will enable HUD elements which guide a player step-by-step through the means of assassination. Set it to minimal or off, however, and you'll instead be gently prodded to use your eyes and ears to get information out of loose-lipped NPCs and work it out from there: a much better system." Contrasting this are the uber-cool Elusive Targets; random NPC targets that only go live for 48 real-world hours at a time. You'll reportedly receive information on a hit, and have to be the first person in the world to take them out. The Guardian adds that the process is
"extremely cryptic. Once you work out what they entail, youll have one shot if you fail to eliminate your elusive target, youll must wait for the next one. It will be all about being the first Hitman owner in the world to take them out global bragging rights will be yours." Between giving in to the opportunities and acting on the fly to secure a highly sought-after kill, Hitman should - providing IO design the best elusive kills every few days - have something for everyone.
