Horizon Forbidden West: 10 Confirmed Details You NEED To Know
9. (Virtually) No Loading Times
Alongside the trailer, Game Director Mathijs De Jonge commented on the scale and size of the world and, more importantly, the sheer speed in which it can be loaded in.
Mathijs talked about how the improved speed and power of the PS5 SSD has allowed them to create a game world that is larger and more detailed than the previous one, all with (virtually) no loading screens or fast travel wait times.
It also highlights the fact that the game will be quick to boot. No more minute-long loading screens when starting the game up or dying at a critical part and having to wait for the 30 second long load times.
Horizon Zero Dawn was so extensive and highly detailed that it is no wonder that the hardware of the time struggled to keep up. Loading in textures that look that good takes time for a hard drive.
However, it takes little to no time for an SSD like the one in the PS5. We should hopefully be able to explore the Forbidden West from one end to the other without seeing a single loading screen. I don't know how we are all going to cope without our trusty tutorials!
