Horizon Forbidden West: 10 Confirmed Details You NEED To Know

6. Different Biomes

Horizon Forbidden West
Guerrilla Games

With the new game world spanning from Utah to the Pacific Ocean, we should expect to see lots of different biomes and landscapes to explore.

From the trailer, we first see what looks like a semi-submerged San Francisco, with significant landmarks such as City Hall and the Ferry Building underwater. This setting will no doubt lend itself to underwater exploration and combat, discovering the coral riddled ruins of a once booming ancient civilisation (us) sounds like so much fun.

We also see an arid, desert type biome which many people expect to be parts of Nevada, perhaps Las Vegas. Seeing as the game world spans from California to Utah, this would make sense geographically. In the trailer, we see Aloy on top of a mountain overlooking what could well be The Ivanpah Solar Farm which is just near the border to Nevada, closeby to the community of Primm, previously featured in Fallout: New Vegas.

The final biome we see seems to be some sort of frozen, mountainous tundra. This appears to be Yosemite National Park which is located in California and straddles the border of Nevada.

We're sure that each biome will be different, with different machines, wildlife and tribes inhabiting them that bring their own challenges and discoveries.
