Injustice 2: 5 Major Issues NetherRealm Must Address

3. Gear Unlock System

The system used for unlocking gear within Injustice 2 is mostly sound. Most matches in the game reward gear for completing them, and mother boxes aren't too expensive and are rewarded almost as frequently. Even with all of this, there are some notable issues with the gear unlock system.

One of the biggest issues with the gear system is some of the items that are hidden behind it. Although the huge wealth of gear inside of Injustice 2 is certainly impressive, it doesn't make much sense to also hide unique special moves for the characters behind the mother boxes.

This means that it may take players hours of grinding and buying boxes in order to unlock all of their character's moves. The system is completely random, which means that you might not even get those moves at all.

It's the same problem with epic gear. Since they're so rare, you might never get that last piece of Nightwing armour, or that special Batman cowl. It definitely suckers you into micro-transactions, which feels unfair considering how unpredictable those are.

This issue could be solved by having mother boxes specified for epic gear and for unlockable abilities. The boxes may end up being more expensive that way, but at least you'll be paying for something you want.
