Injustice 2: 5 Major Issues NetherRealm Must Address
2. Source Crystal Shortage
The rarest currency in Injustice 2, source crystals, are rewarded for leveling up your own user profile. Unfortunately, the amount rewarded each time feels incredibly stingy which in turn creates a massive shortage of the things.
Of course, there's an obvious reason for this: microtransactions. This is unfortunate because some of the best unlockables in the whole game are behind random unlocks or through using source crystals.
All of the awesome shaders and premier skins are only useable if you get them randomly (which is a small chance) or through using a large amount of source crystals. Shaders are 4000 and premier skins are a whopping 6000 each.
This would be okay if they were rewarded more frequently. Unfortunately, players only get 100 source crystals every time they level up their user profile, which takes a lot more XP than leveling up characters does. The amount of source crystals goes up by 50 depending on how high your level is but it maxes out at 200 each level, which still isn't enough.
The only thing that NetherRealm can truly do to correct this is award more crystals for each level, and give players more opportunities to earn them. It's understandable that they want to encourage micro-transactions, but it starts getting in the way of enjoying the game at a certain point.
