Insomniac's Spider-Man 2: 5 Obscure Villains That Must Appear
4. Charlemagne
Skilled Russian tracker and assassin Charlemagne is, in the comic continuity, one of Wolverine’s closest friends, and on a note with far more emotional potential, the only person Peter has ever truly, willingly killed, after she took a tense, terrified and wounded Peter by surprise.
Seeing as Insomniac’s Spidey has made a point of not killing in this universe - telling Taskmaster he pulls his punches because he’s happy to subdue criminals rather than murder them - being faced with a kill-or-be-killed scenario against one of the most deadly assassins in the Marvel Universe would lead to some impactful, nuanced storytelling that would force this Peter to re-evaluate his crime fighting career, and test his limits in an unthinkable manner.
Additionally, seeing as the Fox-Disney deal has recently been as good as sealed, Charlemagne would make for a good segue to introduce the X-Men and mutants as a whole into Insomniac's world. Impossible questions about the morality of taking a life AND Wolverine? That's definitely a win-win.
