Killzone: Shadow Fall Review - 6 Reasons It's The Ultimate PS4 Tech Demo

6. Worst€ Plot Shell€ Ever

Killzone Shadow Fall2 The above header is a bold claim but I still stand by it! Shadow Fall takes place sometime after Killzone 3, which ended with the complete obliteration of Helghan. The war was over, Vekta won, and finality registered with a franchise that has actually always successfully told an interesting science fiction narrative rich with lore. What do the citizens of Vekta do after this war? The introduction to Shadow Fall is a three-minute scene of plot exposition that essentially says the ISA (Interplanetary Strategic Alliance) allowed the remaining Helghast to live with them on Vekta. Gee€ I wonder what happened? That€™s admittedly only three minutes of a ten hour game though, maybe there are some awesome themes and characters to create something compelling out of this turd of a plot shell. Nope, the new protagonist Lucas Kellan is as charismatic as a random Battlefield protagonist. Its theme regarding both sides of war being evil is a tired cliché, coming off the least bit stimulating and entertaining. Furthermore, the voice acting is stilted and stiff, as if the actors delivering the lines were falling asleep in the studio completely aware that this game was a waste of their talent. To top it all off, you are treated with quite possibly the least satisfying conclusion in all of FPS games, which is saying something considering how abrupt Killzone 3 rolled the credits. I€™m not joking when I say that Shadow Fall literally has no ending after a slow motion bullet pieces the final boss. If Killzone: Shadow Fall was a movie, Roger Ebert would rise from his grave to tear it apart.
