Kingdom Hearts 3: 10 Reasons It's A Disappointment

4. It Plays Like A PS2 Game

Though it certainly doesn't look like a PS2 game, mechanically Kingdom Hearts 3 feels positively retrograde, and not always in the fun, throwback sense of the word.

The biggest culprit by far is the game's terrible camera, which often actively works against the player's efforts during combat, making it tough to keep track of enemies even with the ability to lock-on. In 2019, is that really acceptable?

Character movements and traversal also feel incredibly awkward, with Sora's stilted running and jumping animations looking like a far cry from a contemporary AAA blockbuster game.

Running up buildings looks especially janky, and given the general polish of the core combat - camera issues aside - it sticks out like a sore thumb.
