Kingsglaive - Final Fantasy XV Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

Downs:6. The Plot Is Total Nonsense

It won't be too surprising to anyone who's ever played a Final Fantasy game or watched a Final Fantasy movie that Kingsglaive's plot is, well, a complete mess.

Sure, it starts off simple with the easily-understood war between the kingdom of Lucis and the Niflheim empire, but it quickly snowballs with an ever-increasing level of contrivance such that it becomes harder to care about what's going on the more muddled it becomes.

Character motivations on both sides are frequently questionable at best, and as such it quickly becomes a "switch your brain off and enjoy the light show" kind of outing. Again, not a shocker, but the creative minds behind the FF franchise could do with learning that less is sometimes more.
