League Of Legends North American LCS Summer Split Analysis: Week 8

8. Velocity eSports (5-18)

Vel Esports With the sudden step down of former top laner Vileroze, Cris was once again added to an ever-changing Velocity eSports lineup. They are near mathematically out of contention for a playoff spot and would be automatically up for relegation. Despite their 1-2 week, Velocity eSports did not play like a 5-18 team. They beat Team Coast and put up a great fight against top team Cloud Nine and equally frightening Team Vulcun. This team is one of the most mistake-prone, but despite their record, they are also one of the most improved. Although their hopes for the playoffs are dashed, they can still play spoiler to other teams hoping to qualify and try out some new strategies for their next LCS bid. I have a good feeling that they will be back next spring. Top lane player Cris played like an absolute superstar this week, going 5/4/3 on Kennen against Team Vulcun, 7/1/11 on Rumble against Team Coast, and 10/5/4 on Rumble against Cloud Nine. He was able to dominate Cloud Nine top lane player Balls in lane, and he made sure everyone knew that he deserves a starting spot. Mid lane player ecco was not as consistently good. Although he made a great perofrmance on Ahri against Team Coast (8/1/12), his Orianna against Team Vulcun (4/6/4) and Twisted Fate against Cloud Nine (2/4/5) failed to make headway. Jungler NK Inc made a great performance on Jarvan IV against Team Coast (4/2/19). His other two games were decent but a bit ineffective. AD carry Maplestreet was the definition of ineffective this week, as support Evaniskus ended the week with over three times more kills than his AD carry. Maplestreet had a target on his back this week, going 2/13/37 in three games as Varus. Support Evaniskus came out of the game against Team Coast with a 5/2/17 Zyra. He was a below average Leona, but he redeemed himself tenfold with his other two games.
