LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Early Reactions To Our Hands On Time

2. The New Additions Are Very Welcome

LEGO The Force Awakens comes with three big innovations: new flight mechanics, as discussed, and also third person, in-cover shooting sequences for blaster battles, and also new build variations.

The blaster battles come with targeting, but the one we were shown (in the rathtar sequence on Han and Chewie’s freight ship) still meant you’d end up being bogged down. It’s a nice little addition that just broadens gameplay out.

And the multi-builds mean a lot of the builds (but not all), come with 2 or 3 variations: sometimes you have to build all of them, in order, to help complete an action (like helping the non-jumping C3PO climb out of the trash compactor) or you can choose an option (when building distractions for creatures). It’s great, and it very much fits in with the “joy of LEGO” creative manifesto.
