7. The Importance Of The 'Skill Stick'

Get used to the right control stick on your controller of choice, because you'll be using it a ton during Madden 21 play. EA promise using the stick more will allow gamers to "link together clever combos that set up amazing gameplay moments". They've drafted in a few new skill moves too.

"Slide hurdles" hint that run plays have more options. No, this wasn't exactly a major problem over the past few years, but it is nice to have something else to use other than that over-utilised (and over-powered) spin move everyone spams in MUT. It remains to be seen just how useful it'll be, but someone who plays as, say, the Giants and Saquon Barkley should enjoy it.

They might not enjoy anything else, and that's coming from a Giants' fan.

Back to the 'skill stick'. This refined control scheme shouldn't outright replace the old one. If EA are smart, they'll include the ability to revert to face button controls for skill moves; they're the ones players are used to, after all.
