Madden 21: 10 Things We Already Know

5. Tackling Is A Promised Overhaul

Here's a biggie.

There are now three different types of tackles CPU players engage with during plays. "Location-based", "breakdown" and "improved dive tackles" are all being hyped by EA as improvements that'll make on-field movement way more realistic than it has been previously.

It's "location-based" that has this gamer salivating a little, if only because of the science behind it. This mechanic means that AI defenders will be aware of exactly where the first down markers (and other important areas like the end zone) are in relation to where they're attempting a tackle. That, finally, means you won't accidentally bundle someone in for a touchdown rather than keeping them away from the goal line.

That aforementioned 'skill stick' will also come into play on the defensive side of the ball too. It does look like stick play (ooer) will be a major focus for EA this year. They're clearly moving away from face buttons when it comes to anything other than passing.
