A standard without a blue Planeswalker just wouldn't be a standard. Narset, Parter of Veils may not be the most powerful Planeswalker ever printed but her role in standard cannot be denied. It's often said that Planeswalkers need to protect themselves in order to be any good. When a Planeswalker does not protect themselves still sees the amount of play that Narset does it may be time to reevaluate that rule.

For one generic mana and two blue Narset enters the battlefield with 5 loyalty. Her static ability of preventing your opponents from drawing more than one card per turn helps to slow down opposing blue decks. Paying two loyalty lets your look at the top 4 card of your library and find a noncreature, nonland card then put the rest on the bottom of your deck in a random order. When combined with cards that can bring her back for encore performances the value of Narset is hard to deny.

Hindering your opponentss and helping you to find counter and kill spells to their threats is what blue loves to do. The versatility of blue is once again on show as Narset plays many roles on your blue deck's road to victory.
