Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: 12 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

10. Using Tilt Controls Maxes Out The Handling Stat

Speaking of motion controls, it might be tempting to turn them off if you're looking to avoid any 'gimmicks'. However, as it would've been a coding nightmare to balance handling statistics with every user's real-world motions (i.e. what if turning fully into a corner didn't turn your kart?), flicking on Tilt Controls will automatically give your racer a perfect Handling stat in-game, regardless of what the meter looks like during selection.

This means you can ostensibly 'game the system', picking racers that specialise in acceleration or top speed, before using motion controls to max out their turning circles, too.

Of course, you need to get used to angling the Joy-Con/Pro Controller just right to make those tight corners, but the benefits to playing online speak for themselves.
