8. Hold Left/Right To Auto-Boost Off Specific Places

Another one to factor into your boost chains. If you hold either left or right when in mid-air, yes, you'll land in that direction and can continue drifting, but there are parts of certain courses where things like oversized leaves or pads will bridge gaps, creating potential shortcuts.

An easy one to spot is on Cloudtop Cruise, where both a Bowser-logo'd pad separates the main drag at the beginning, and a couple of leaves let you bypass a tight corner at the end. Come onto these whilst holding a direction and you'll forward-flip off them with maximum boost, landing with a substantial thrust forwards.

It's definitely an advanced technique, but one that can pay dividends with the right timing, especially seeing as a ton of courses have shortcuts in crucial closing spots that benefit this approach.
