As with the structure of the plot, the gameplay and levels can also become repetitive and formulaic as the game goes on.

Each often play out extremely similar, with a few variations here and there. Sure, one chapter might introduce portals you need to navigate to get around, while others might shift to a top-down perspective and have you dodging spotlights, but these are more quick distractions rather than major alterations to the gameplay.

Likewise, the "puzzles" are similarly implemented as a means to waste your time rather than anything else. They provide no challenge, and feel like a transparent way to break up the constant combat for brief interludes.

Some levels introduce interesting gimmicks, like being chased by the Juggernaut, and the boss fights in general - with their unique attack styles and weaknesses - do enough to shake up the gameplay and keep things interesting, but outside of that, there isn't much variety.
